Brad Solomon

Brad Solomon is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science. He received his Ph.D. in Computational Biology at Carnegie Mellon University under the direction of Carl Kingsford, and worked as a postdoc with Ben Langmead at Johns Hopkins. As a researcher, he received the Katherine L. Kreighbaum Research Scholarship, Richard King Mellon Foundation Presidential Fellowship in Life Sciences, the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (T32), and an XSEDE Startup Grant. Brad is most known for his work developing algorithms and data structures for big data problems in genomics. Among his major contributions are formally defining the “experiment discovery” problem for approximate searching of genomic collections for arbitrary sequences of interest.
